FIELDHOUSE PROTOTYPE

The Chicago Park District commissioned Johnson & Lee, Ltd. to design a field house prototype.

The firm’s proposal incorporates a number of green building guidelines. The gym’s clerestory allows for passive heat gain. The gabled roof allows photovoltaic cells at any site. Wind power can be incorporated onto the two smaller towers.

The program calls for a gymnasium, change rooms, community rooms and a fitness room. The firm provided a design that meets with the historic goals of the park district. The design was also laid out in a modular fashion to allow for expansion and change on various park district sites. The project budget is estimated at $3.0 million.
