BRUCE RESIDENCE

A new single family residence located in a subdivision on the southern edge of Springfield, Illinois. The program calls for a 3,800 sq. ft. house with a full basement and a three car garage.

A large two-story circular foyer with a spiral staircase is develped at the main entrance. Public spaces; the living room, family-room, dining room, kitchen, and office studio complete the first floor. An interior court-yard is inserted into the building volume bringing additional natural light to the public spaces and separating the living room and family room.

The second floor has a large master bedroom suite with a master bathroom containing sunken whirlpool bath and steam room. Three other bedrooms with bathrooms complete the second floor.

The owners requested the front facade be contextual with the surrounding residences. The Springfield climate necessitates the development of porches both in the front and rear. The street elvations has brick veneer with columns supporting the roof forming a porch. The remainder of the house is clad with vinyl siding with a porch formed at the rear.
