LAKE MEADOWS HOUSES

This is the second phase of a new housing development at Lake Meadows, located on the near-south side of Chicago. The original developemnt is a typical early-fifties planning concept. High-rise apartment buildlings are spaced on a large grid with liberally landscaped green spaces constructed between the buidlings based on Le Corbusier’s Radiant City.

These homes take advantage of this open space to reintroduce a more residential urban scale into the available parkland.

By providing for different scales of residential architecture, Lake Meadows is being developed to establish its own context within the model of the typical Chicago neighborhood. The project was designed for Thrush Companies. Construction costs are 3.6 million dollars.
