WADE/THRUSH
PARADE OF HOMES

This project is the design for prototype houses to be built in the newly redeveloping area of North Kenwood. The historic nature of the surrounding community dictated that the design responds to that criterion. Programmatically the unit contains two floors with an elevated basement to match the adjacent structures.

The home on the left has a masonry facade with a gable. A decorative finish bond of brick colors forms a rich pattern at the gable. The windows are regularly spaced patterns. The entrance is recessed with a limestone column.

The home on the right emphasizes the diversity that can be obtained on the street. While this home meets the same programmatic need, it is possible to create a varied street facade, in context with Chicago’s historic neighborhoods.

The combined cost of construction was 1.6 million dollars. Homes shown were constructed forboth Wade and Thrush Companies.
